Francesca Gialli

Francesca Gialli: after graduating in foreign languages and literatures with Professor Guido Fink and writing a thesis about English contemporary meta-theatre, she won a scholarship offered by the newspaper Corriere della Sera for a course of “Marketing and Communication related to the Fashion Industry” in Rome. It is in this very field that she found the job she lives with, but she never stopped writing.

In 1999 she arrived third at the Lodoletta Pini Prize. Between 2007 and 2010 she occasionally worked with the arts magazine “Arteincontro in Libreria” by writing reviews about exhibitions and cultural events. Between 2007 and 2008 she wrote articles about fashion trends and marketing for “Guida al Fashion Marketing”. In 2006 she translated in English “Suor Maria Celeste: la Figlia di Galileo” by P. Pierazzini and G. Peruzzi (ed. Felici Editore). In 2005, she wrote the preface for Angelo Tondini’s “Viaggio Sentimentale” (ed. Lampi di Stampa). In 2004, she published the short story “Rapsodia in Blu” in the collection “E allora?” (ed. Piemme Editore).

Since she became a mother, she is back to imaginative stories and her writings are now full of ascending stars, talking seeds and animals that fight to save the world from ecological disasters. Maybe this is a consequence of reading every evening bed-time stories, but she has said that it is nice being able to believe once again that everything could happen.
