The Bakemono Lab publishing house <https://bakemonolab.it/> was founded in Rome in 2011 by Valentina Cestra, and brings together in its catalogue the fruit of her studies and primary interests: cinema, illustrations, Japanese culture and Gothic novels.
In its initial phase, Bakemono Lab operated as a cultural association, actively engaged in promoting reading in schools and organising laboratories and workshops focused on writing, supporting the work of authors and enriching the creative process through collaboration with numerous artists and illustrators. It collaborates with the illustrators academia Ars in Fabula and the National Film Museum of Turin.
Bakemono Lab’s aim is to give space and value to ever new stories, to tell the story of a world that is constantly changing, for better or for worse. Bakemono in Japanese literally means “thing that changes and transforms”, a bit like language and the lives of all of us.
Tim the eternal child of Burbank by Stefano Bessoni Tim Burton’s illustrated biography Bilingual Italian-English , was published under the patronage of the National Film Museum in Turin and with the approval of Tim Burton Productions. Currently on sale at the Museum bookshop.

In addition to having had excellent sales (around a thousand copies), the projects won the grant from Siae and the Experimental Centre of Cinematography to become a cartoon series and they are trying to get the production of the series off the ground. 2 books, 8 more are coming.
